November 2, 1935

Dear brother Jack,

A lot has happened here at Maycomb since you last visited. You have asked me to tell you about Jem and Scout so I shall.
Scout is pretty shaken by the frightening experience they had on Halloween. The experience Atticus called you to tell you about. She hasn't changed much. She still refuses to wear dresses and stop acting like a boy. She wears overalls all the time and she plays with boys all the time. I am not very proud of her or of Atticus who continually refuses to make her act ladylike. I think she will calm down now and become a little more mature. I sure hope she will.
Jem is turning into a fine young man. Even though he broke his arms, he insists he will continue to play football when he recovers. I still remember when he was a little boy playing with his sister. Now he is a man. I am very proud of him. I know he will grow up very well.
I must leave you now but we shall continue to write to each other in the future. Goodbye.

Sincerely,
Alexandra Finch
