In the book, Scout is a young tomboy. She is constantly being pressured to grow up into an ideal southern lady. She doesn't want to and her father Atticus refuses to insist. We see the story through her young and innocent eyes which makes it interesting. At the end, her point of view is more mature and understanding. We see how she grew up simply by reading and understanding her way of seeing things. Scout's character doesn't evolve much at the beginning; she stays a child. After the frightening experience on the night of the 31st, Scout suddenly seems to grow up. Part of this is because she learns to walk around in Arthur Radley's skin. |
