Dear Uncle Jack,

I am writing this letter to you to tell you what is going on at home. Aunt Alexandra has moved in, which is not that good. I think she did so because of our manners, and also because of the trial. She is annoying; she keeps on saying how badly I behave.

Atticus and Jem are changing a lot. At first, Atticus respected Aunt Alexandra when she wasn't talking to him nice, but now he responds to her and sometimes gets in a fight with her. He used to never do that. And he doesn't listen to her as much either. Like the day of the trial when he said it was okay for us to stay there. You should have seen Auntie's face. I think he changed because of the trial. He has a lot on his mind now, and he is tired of Aunt Alexandra always on his back.

Jem also changed, because of the trial, I think. Cal calls him "Mister Jem" now. Maybe he is just growing up. But I think he is just pretending to know everything that is going on, I mean about the trial. He never wants me around, and he is always reading these football magazines. He is just trying to look older.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't change. I don't understand everything that is happening, and it is really annoying. I wish I could though, because everyone is talking about it, and I don't understand what is going on!
Well, I guess that is what I wanted to tell you. I give you a big hug.
Your niece,
Scout.
